This research is based on an ethnographical observation, which took place at the beginning of the school year in primary classroom in ZEP or priority education zone. It analyses trie strategies used bv the teacher to establish the rules of school life and the consequences of tnis approach on a didactic level. After having shown how the teacher defined - or redefined - the forms of school organization and how it established pupils life, the author presents the conditions in which the pupils make adjustments and interpret the rules. The observation of study halls, breaks, and the evolutions in the didactic order, show that the framework of scholastic experience is never totally fixed, nor are the rules strictly defined or applied.
