Our study attempts to assess the influence of the social and family environment on the reading and writing habilities of children at the early elementary school. 134 children from contrasting social backgrounds were set paperwork whereas their parents answerea a questionnaire aiming at determining their educational views and practices especially around writing skills Teaming and the teachers measured both their academic and their extra-curricular capabilities. The results indicate relevant differences among the children's reading and writing abilities which depend on the parental educational style and also on the sociocultural environment.
