The Analysis of Selected Legends of Alois Jirásek and the Problematics of their Illustrations

This bachelor thesis deals with selected literary tales from the collection of Ancient Bohemian Legens compiled by Alois Jirásek, first published in 1894. It also compares illustrations by Věnceslav Černý, Antonín Procházka, Jiří Trnka and especially Mikoláš Aleš. At the same time, the thesis briefly outlines Jirásek's life and work. The theoretical part is complemented by a practical part, which includes the artistic reinterpretation of the selected legend according to the inspiration of Mikoláš Aleš
