This thesis deals with the breeding of snakes from the families Boidae and Pythonidae in zoos around the world and focuses on the author's analysis of the success of their breeding and rearing. The thesis also gives a brief description of snakes as a whole group, the role of snakes on the planet, their evolutionary development, the protection of snakes and a description of the families Boidae and Pythonidae. Within the complexity of the problem, the thesis provides information on the history of zoos, the history of snake breeding in zoos and basic principles for the successful breeding of snakes.
