BackgroundThe World Health Organization recommends changing the first-line antimicrobial treatment for gonorrhoea when >= 5% of Neisseria gonorrhoeae cases fail treatment or are resistant. Susceptibility to ceftriaxone, the last remaining treatment option has been decreasing in many countries.
