Oxidative stress plays an important role in cognitive dysfunctions and is seen in neurodegeneration and Alzheimer's disease (AD). It has been reported that the polyphenolic compound caffeic acid possesses strong neuroprotective and antioxidant effects. The current study was conducted to investigate the therapeutic potential of caffeic acid against amyloid beta (A & beta;(1-42))-induced oxidative stress and memory impairments. A & beta;(1-42) (5 & mu;L/5 min/mouse) was administered intracerebroventricularly (ICV) into wild-type adult mice to induce AD-like pathological changes.
