The photographic promenade: visual arts based architectural experience

[EN] Architecture is the discipline that builds the environments we inhabit, determining, in addition to a system of occupation and use of the territory, a structure that shapes the relationships of the inhabitants with their fellows and with the landscape. Architecture reflects the values of the societies that develop it and becomes one of their most representative symbols. Despite this, we often ignore its transcendental importance, to the point of forgetting that its main task is to offer itself as a space suitable for living in its broadest meaning. It is from here, from this essential function, that we take advantage of and reformulate the dynamics of the promenade architecturale proposed by Le Corbusier to activate didactic practices around architecture and thus reconquer its spaces. With this objective in mind, we will take advantage of the framework offered by artistic teaching-learning methodologies to make photography a key tool in architectural education. The relationship between the two disciplines is established with the emergence of photography, which sees in the city and its elements an attractive object of representation. For its part, architecture discovers a fundamental instrument for its communication, which transforms the traditional discursive language and sustains its leap to modernity. It will be precisely the photographic essays linked to Le Corbusier's projects that will offer us the keys to understand which images make up his reports and which ones are best suited to the photographic interpretation of the spatial experience provoked by the architectural journey, highlighting five specific types of architectural photographs. Research instruments based on visual arts will help us to exploit the narrative potential of visual discourses, facilitating the identification of two figures suitable for the interpretation of ideas derived from an architectural experience understood as an embodied, emotional and aesthetic action.[ES] La arquitectura es la disciplina que construye los entornos que habitamos, determinando, además de un sistema de ocupación y aprovechamiento del territorio, una estructura que modela las relaciones de los habitantes con sus semejantes y con el paisaje. La arquitectura refleja los valores de las sociedades que la desarrollan y se convierte en uno de sus símbolos más representativos. A pesar de esto, frecuentemente ignoramos su importancia trascendental, hasta el punto de olvidar que su principal cometido es ofrecerse como un espacio adecuado para el habitar en su más amplia significación. Es desde aquí, desde esa función esencial, que aprovechamos y reformulamos la dinámica de la promenade architecturale planteada por Le Corbusier para activar las prácticas didácticas en torno a la arquitectura y reconquistar así sus espacios. Con este objetivo aprovecharemos el marco ofrecido por las metodologías artísticas de enseñanza-aprendizaje para hacer de la fotografía una herramienta clave de la educación arquitectónica. Las relaciones entre ambas disciplinas se establecen con la aparición de la fotografía, que ve en la ciudad y en sus elementos un atractivo objeto de representación. Por su lado, la arquitectura descubre un instrumento fundamental para su comunicación, que transforma el lenguaje discursivo tradicional y sustenta su salto a la modernidad. Serán precisamente los ensayos fotográficos ligados a los proyectos de Le Corbusier los que nos ofrezcan las claves para entender qué imágenes componen sus reportajes y cuáles son las que mejor se adaptan a la interpretación fotográfica de la experiencia espacial provocada por el recorrido arquitectónico, destacando cinco tipos concretos de fotografías de arquitectura. Los instrumentos visuales de investigación nos ayudarán a explotar el potencial narrativo de los discursos visuales, facilitando la identificación de dos figuras adecuadas a la interpretación de ideas derivadas de una experiencia arquitectónica entendida como una acción corporalizada, emocional y estética.
