Success Factors in Sporting Events through IPA Approach: The Case of an International Horse Show Jumping

This chapter offers an innovative approach to determine success factors in an international horse show jumping event. The selected event is settled in Madrid, Spain, as part of a larger international championship, with relevance from the economic perspective. It addresses an innovative method in the sports industry for measuring strengths and weaknesses: Importance-Performance Analysis (IPA). This chapter is based on a case study that addresses event evaluation from a practical approach. Different priorities are established from the analyzed data, mainly related to the food and beverage service, the organizational aspect, comfort, and event environment. Although this is an event-focused chapter, it has great implications for other markets in the sports industry.
