An essential part of the decarbonization of the maritime industry is to increase operational energy efficiency. The Blue Visby Solution (BVS) aims to reduce emissions produced from international shipping by optimizing the arrival times of cargo vessels, which will allow sailing ships to reduce their speed. Speed reduction is recognized as the easiest and the most affordable way of reducing fuel consumption of the existing fleet. The analysis of a partially participating fleet is performed to evaluate the feasibility of the solution in a more realistic scenario.
