Veronica Granata, The book market, censorship, clandestine literature in France during the Napoleonic period : the years 1810-1814 . This article, based on documents produced by the Direction Générale de LImprimerie et de la Libraire between 1810 and 1814, analyzes the universe of writings other than periodicals during the last years of the Empire. The central theme is that of strategies developed by the regime to control printed materials, and the reaction in bookstores to a system of surveillance that aimed to oversee and govern all aspects of production, sales, circulation, and "consumption" of printed materials.
