Financing farms in the long run - The two main questions to be solved in the next few years, namely the modernization of medium size farms and the transfer of modernized farms, condition the steps taken to finance both this modernization and such transfers. These two fields should be the main beneficiaries of Government intervention. In a context of durable disinflation maintaining a sufficient level of public support requires new thinking as to how this aid should be distributed. Taking into account the limits to which the state bonus rates of interest can drop a change in the methods of state intervention — i.e. loans transformed into subsidies — should be discussed.
