Le commerce extérieur dans IRMA, modèle conjoncturel de l'agriculture française

Foreign trading in agricultural products as portrayed by irma, a model of the status of french agriculture at a given time - IRMA, a model showing the status of agriculture in France at a given time, describes supply and demand for vegetable and animal products in terms both of value and of volume of trade (at 1970 prices). Among other things, it gives figures for foreign trade with the EEC and for the purchase of purely imported goods. IRMA is also useful in calculating added value for the farming sector and in assessing gross agricultural revenues. The model is used in two-year forecasting. Among other things it provides a measure of the sensitivity of external agricultural trade to the national and more particularly the foreign economic environment. This means that it is possible to calculate, for example, what effects a devaluation of the franc, increased foreign demand or home supply or cheaper oil could be expected to have. The mechanisms adopted in the model reflect the surplus in French agriculture. Using specific variables (prices, subsidies...) IRMA could be made to define ways of better adapting the national agricultural sector to the needs of world markets.Résumé : IRMA, modèle conjoncturel de l'agriculture française, décrit l'offre et la demande en produits végétaux et animaux, en valeur et en volume (aux prix de l'année 1 970). Il distingue en outre les échanges extérieurs avec la CEE et les achats de produits exclusivement importés. IRMA réalise également le calcul de la valeur ajoutée de la branche et évalue le revenu brut agricole. Le modèle est utilisé en prévision sur deux ans. Il permet notamment de mesurer la sensibilité du commerce extérieur agricole à l'environnement économique national et surtout étranger. On peut ainsi déterminer, en variante, quels sont les effets d'une dévaluation du franc, d'une demande étrangère ou d'une offre intérieure accrues, d'un pétrole moins cher. Les mécanismes retenus dans le modèle retracent la situation excédentaire de l'agriculture française. Au travers des variables de commande (prix, subventions...), IRMA pourrait préciser les conditions d'une meilleure adaptation du secteur agricole aux marchés mondiaux.Dumazet Dominique.
