ISEs (Ion-selective electrodes) were found to be effective sensors for the detection of a variety of inorganic and organic cations and anions. These electrodes are simple, inexpensive, and easy to use. However, challenges associated with robust, reliable, and stable potential sensor development are still an ongoing research effort. This study is focused on addressing potential stability and sensor resistance to water formation at the solid-contact | membrane interface by introduction of chitosan in the design of the ion-selective electrode.
