The present study explores the phenomenon of love in Singapore by studying Singaporean Chinese women. Study 1 took the form of semi-structured interviews with five mother-daughter pairs to obtain a preliminary understanding of the indigenous concept of love, from which the Singaporean Chinese Concept of Love scale was established. Study 2 sought to investigate the Singaporean Chinese concept of love quantitatively using the scale constructed in Study 1 and comparing it to the Triangular Love scale and the Revised Adult Attachment scale.
