This paper examined the issue of brain drain phenomenon from a psychological perspective by exploring the relationship between the intention to leave the country and several factors – national identification, a mismatch of personal goals, the type of personal goals (i.e. career and interpersonal) and the importance of personal goals. Potential highly skilled workers such as the undergraduates (N = 60) were used as the study sample. It was found that low national identification individuals and individuals who experienced a higher level of goal mismatch had a stronger intention to leave the country.
