This dissertation is a study of various media accountability systems and regulations for traditional media forms, the Internet and its implications for Singaporean society. The comparison of the different regulatory systems for various traditional media formats and the ubiquitous characteristics of the Internet highlights why it should warrant a different set of considerations. Pertinent to the research purposes of this study, is a qualitative assessment using comparative case studies, interviews, and close readings of online discussions and media reports to explain the challenges faced in the establishment of new media accountability system for local blogging community.
