This is because we live in a competitive society where we are taught to put ourselves first. Acts of ungraciousness evoke negative feelings and emotions that results in us pitting against one another even though we are countrymen. However, it is important that we act with a civic mind as it helps the society function more smoothly and strengthens unity. On top of that, it makes our society more pleasant due to acts of goodwill, which generate positive feelings and emotions.
