Cosplay & boundaries - a study of local cosplayers and how they use boundaries.

This paper deals with how cosplayers in Singapore build and maintain boundaries among themselves and society. It also looks at the symbolic boundaries that they use to maintain differences between themselves. Cosplay allows the expression characters from a variety of movies, anime and novels. The symbolic boundaries help the cosplayer to maintain those differences yet be united in cosplay. The social boundaries allow for the cosplayer to engage both the public and private spheres of his field of interaction.Bachelor of Art
