The aim of this project is to investigate the feasibility of adsorption of lysozyme from aqueous solution onto chitosan hydrogel beads and its derivatives. In this project, native chitosan hydrogel beads, GLU-chitosan beads and ECH-chitosan beads and are tested for adsorption of lysozyme. Crosslinking ratios of 0.2, 0.5, 0.7 and 1.0 are used for each chitosan hydrogel derivative across pH range of 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 9 and 10.5. All three types of chitosan beads are able to adsorb lysozyme. The adsorption isotherm data for adsorption of lysozyme at various pH were fitted to non-linear Langmuir isotherm model. The study showed low conformity to non linear Langmuir isotherm model of lysozyme onto all three types of chitosan beads at acidic pH range...
