This is an empirical study of employers' perception of the importance of an MBA degree for promotion or appointment to managerial positions. A questionnaire was used to obtain responses from employers. The questionnaire was administered to a random sampling of 647 private corporations, statutory boards and government bodies, executive search firms and management consultants and students of an MBA programme in the Nanyang Technological University.
