Singapore is unique to the extent that the state has established a unit- the Social Development Unit (SDU) dedicated to help the citizens find their marriage partners. While researchers have investigated the perceptions and attitudes towards “service providers” of marriage partnerships, studies on the state as a service provider for partnership have been scarce. This study aims to explore how the SDU is perceived and responded to. Thirty undergraduates were interviewed, with equal sampling for each major ethnic group in Singapore. The findings are presented in the framework of perceptions and attitudes towards the SDU and the Singapore state.Bachelor of Art
