Analysis of rainfall patterns for Jakarta

Jakarta, the capitol of Indonesia, has been plagued with many natural disasters for decades, one of which is floods. Floods are mainly caused by heavy and persistent rainfall that has led to much destruction in the city and its neighbouring towns and villages. Hence, this study involves the analysis of the rainfall pattern in Jakarta, by constructing IDF Curve from paper Ground Stations datasets and Aphrodite. By constructing Intensity Duration Frequency Curves for the various stations, an analysis and evaluation would be made from them to further understand the pattern of the rainfalls. Other information was also generated to further understand the patterns and nature of the rainfalls that create dangerous floods that would endanger precious lives and destroy public property.Bachelor of Engineering (Civil
