Project ‘FLOW’ delves into the captivating concept of "flow" in dance by utilising motion capture technology to capture the movements of dancers as they interpret and dance to their chosen music. The objective is to showcase the individuality and creativity of each dancer by translating their motion-captured movements into abstract characters enhanced with trail lines and colour changes based on velocity. By presenting the animations of two dancers side-by-side through holographic projection, the project aims to facilitate an easy comparison of their movements, highlighting the similarities and differences between their interpretations of the music. The project further incorporates diverse styles of dance by selecting dancers who specialise in different genres, such as ballet, contemporary, hip hop, and more. This intentional variation in dance styles accentuates the distinctive flow and techniques brought forth by each dancer, thereby illustrating the richness and diversity within the realm of dance. Through the innovative combination of motion capture technology, abstract character animation, holographic projection, and the exploration of diverse dance styles, this project offers a visually captivating and informative representation of the intricate relationship between music and movement. It sheds light on the personal styles and interpretations of dancers while allowing viewers to witness the dynamic interplay between the chosen music and the unique flow exhibited by each dancer.
