The increase emergence of mobile computing devices, such as handheld devices, and local-area wireless networks has fostered a growing interest in location-aware system and services. In this Final Year Project (FYP) report, we focus on the correlation between the location and received signal strength of the Wi-Fi signals to determine the indoor positioning of the user. This is due to the wide availability of wireless local area network (WLAN) infrastructure and the ease of obtaining such signal strength measurements by standard IEEE 802.11 wireless antennas.
