Une industrie à composante lithologique mixte : le gisement paléolithique moyen de Goaréva (île de Bréhat, Côtes-d'Armor)

The lithic industry from the Middle Palaeolithic site of Goaréva has a mixed lithological composition. Beside flint, dolerite, a local magmatic rock, represents a third of the lithic assemblage. This lithological diversity results from an adaptation to the local palaeo-environment. Technological analysis has identified a strong similarity in the knapping process applied to each raw material. However, it is obvious that, at the point when the chips are transformed into tools, the raw material becomes a determining factor.Huet Briagell.
