A divergence between research and actual decision making practices has been identified, and the aim is now to bridge the gap between the science and practice of making decisions. The focus of this paper is to provide an overview of decision making in relation to employee recruitment and selection practices. It was determined that while theoretical models of decision making had significant research value, they are difficult to use in everyday recruitment and selection practices, owing to factors such as being too scientifically demanding, with little relevance to practical usage.
