This report’s objective is to research on various variables which determines that micro-textured tools have better performance compared to a non-textured cutting tool. In order to reduce production costs, replacement frequency for cutting tools and the usage of lubricants are factors that can be considered. Hence, the study of shear angle, contact length and material composition will further demonstrate the effectiveness of textured tools as compared to non-textured tools. The aim is to use the least number of experiments to achieve the best results, inducing the Taguchi L9 Orthogonal Array method which will be explained in detail.
