Fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emission (GHG) are key areas of concern for the maritime industry. Rising fuel costs and rising trends of emissions calls for a relook on the current state of voyage optimisation. This project looks to explore a new voyage optimisation technique with a proposed prediction model formulated with Microsoft Excel, consisting of resistance prediction model and propulsion prediction model. A prediction on a Handymax oil tanker’s calm water resistance is studied in this paper and compared with experimental results.Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical Engineering
