Quantum computing was first introduced in the 1980s and has long been heralded in theory to be superior to our current computing technology. In recent years, more governments, institutions and companies from across the globe are participating in its research despite no practically feasible quantum computer yet. However, current hardware developments have hit milestones in producing prototypes up to around 50 qubits. At the same time, quantum computing research have started to shift towards software development.
