Fiber alignment is a fundamental process to connect a functional silicon photonic device with other equipment. This project aims to design an automatic control system for fiber alignment. The control system includes a power meter and two alignment stages driven by closed-loop piezoelectric actuators. The dimension of the fiber is in a micrometer. Thus, it is challenging for a human to see if the two fiber are aligned to the most optimized position. By designing an automatic fiber coupling system, the user can align the fiber more efficiently and more accurately. The user is also able to see the results from the user interface.
