This article reports findings from a study of industrial mobility in the Federal Republic of Germany. The study proceeded from the hypothesis that a willingness of firms to relocate is a necessary precondition for the mobility of their establishments. There is a discussion of whether and under what circumstances firms may be expected to be willing to relocate.
