Jenseits von Utilitarismus und Deontologie. Ein Diskussions-Beitrag christlicher Corona-Ethik

Beyond Utilitarianism and Deontology. A Contribution to the Discussion of Christian Corona Ethics Utilitarianism and deontology have a decisive influence on the Corona ethical recommendations issued by associations and commissions. In the present article, a Christian perspective for a corona ethics is brought into the discussion. The triage- and lockdown- dilemmas are discussed as examples. The first task is to weigh the utilitarian and deontological arguments presented in the most authoritative recommendations and to identify possible inconsistencies or ambiguities. A Christian perspective on justification is presented as an alternative. It becomes clear that, in principle, recommendations on a utilitarian basis can be rejected from this perspective and deontological answers can be readjusted or supplemented. Thus, the public corona-ethical discourse can be enriched by a non-secular position. Even the Christian positioning cannot solve all the problems raised. Dictatorial measures like in China are no model for the solution of the dilemmas. Therefore, it is necessary to bring the richness of Western ethics into a constructive exchange with each other, and for this the Christian view proposed here can be an asset
