The authors have studied a corpus of 920 polished axes from public and private collections in the three départements of the Auvergne region (Cantal, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme). Some of these axes are made from, imported materials, such as eclogite and jade it it e from the Italian Alps or cretaceous flint from the Berry region. The Neolithic population also used local rocks: fibrolite, tertiary flint, lavas and palaeo-lavas. Important differences are to be noted in materials used from one area of Auvergne to the other, revealing the complexity of supply strategies.Les auteurs ont étudié un corpus de 920 haches polies, provenant de collections publiques et privées de trois départements de l'Auvergne (Cantal, Haute-Loire, Puy-de-Dôme).
