Etude taphonomique des cervidés de la grotte du Vallonnet (Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Alpes-Maritimes) [Taphonomic study of the cervid bones of Vallonnet cave (Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, Alpes-Maritimes, France)]

Two cervids have been identified among the Vallonnet big mammals. They come from the third stratigraphie complex, which has been dated of about 1 MA, and have been found in association with lithic industries. The bones are quite badly conserved. The mortality curves of the Cervids, the bone fracturing and the carnivore alterations on bones let us think that man is the main responsible of the accumulation. The porcupine also made a lot of damages, after man and carnivores, perhaps when the bones were already dry.Deux Cervidés ont été déterminés parmi les grands mammifères de la grotte du Vallonnet. Ces faunes proviennent de l'ensemble stratigraphique III, daté d'environ un million d'années, et sont associées à des industries lithiques. Les ossements ont subi une forte destruction dans le sédiment. Les courbes de mortalité, la facturation des ossements et les profils d'altération par les carnivores font penser que les restes de Cervidés ont été accumulés dans la grotte du Vallonnet par les hommes et en moindre importance, par les carnivores. Le porc-épic, intervenu après les deux premiers agents, a largement rongé et donc modifié le matériel.Echassoux Anna.
