This paper deals with the reception of Max Weber's comparative historical sociology in France. Yet, whereas many works have been devoted to the broader reception of his writings in this country since the 1980s, the focus in this paper is rather on his aforementioned contribution to the social sciences. In this respect, the related reception, when seen against the background of studies mostly undertaken elsewhere, displays a particular pattern. Indeed, not only do we witness his sociology set apart from its historical dimension, but also the disappearance of the core component of his methodology's, namely its comparative approach.
