A high-speed electric motor is developed as part of a high-density traction system that includes the motor and the power electronics stage. To consider the close interdependence of the inverter and the motor sizing for a specific application, the high-level design of the high-density system and the detailed design of the electric motor are presented in this thesis. The main objective of the research work is to improve the state-of-the art power density of a traction system for a passenger car.
