Les enclos fossoyés du VIe siècle avant J.-C. au Cauquillous (Montpellier, Hérault)

Abstract New light has recently been shed on the protohistoric period of the eastern Languedoc plain by some preventive archaeological projects. One of these, carried out in 1997 at the entry to Montpellier, has revealed a series of late 6th century ВС hollow constructions : a quadrangular enclosure together with a circular ditch surrounding a central pit, which correspond to the remains of a levelled structure such as a tumulus which was still above the ground during the Gallo-Roman period.Résumé La Protohistoire des plaines du Languedoc orienta/ connaît des éclairages nouveaux grâce aux récentes opérations d'archéologie préventive. Ainsi l'une d'elle, effectuée en /997 aux portes de Montpellier (Hérault), a révélé, notamment, un ensemble de structures en creux de la fin du Vf1 s. av. J.-C. : un enclos quadrangulaire, ainsi qu'un fossé circulaire enfermant une fosse centrale qui correspondent aux vestiges en creux d'une structure arasée du genre tumulus, encore en relief à l'époque gallo-romaine.Dedet Bernard, Sauvage Laurent.
