ABSTRACT In 1996 a preventive archaeological project allowed the excavation, at least in part, of a whole cult and tombs complex dating from the 8th or 7th century ВС, at Vestric, Gard, in the Vistre plain. This site, whose use was apparently very limited in time, associates a discontinuous oval enclosure, three deposits of vases, two adult inhumation graves, a heated stone pit, and, perhaps, two round concentric ditches. Well known in the northern regions of France, and beyond, this type of site was previously unknown in the Mediterranean south, where in fact the plains have not really been investigated.
