ABSTRACT The fauna! assemblage of Pietracorbara is one of the richest in Corsica (5 729 remains of Invertebrates and 3 507 of Vertebrates). During the Late Preneolithic, Prolagus was the main source of animal food. Some observations suggest that this small Lagomorph was dressed for meat storage on the site. Shellfish make a very secondary contribution. There were no domestic animals. During the Late Early Neolithic, Sheep, Goat and Pig, which were probably bred near the site, came first in the diet. Cattle are very scarce or absent. Specialized collecting of medio-litto- ral Gasteropods (Patella and Monodonta) brought 8 to 10 % of the diet, and small game (Prolagus) less than 5 %.
