Bison from the Lower Paleolithic site of Caune de l'Arago (Tautavel, Pyrénées-Orientales). New archaeozoological data. The systematic study of cut and percussion marks on the bones of Bison {Bison priscus) from La Caune de l'Arago shows that human activity was the principal agent of accumulation and exploitation of these animals. The analysis of all marks made it possible to reconstruct the different stages of the butchering process. Cut marks and human breakage are located systematically on particular parts of this species skeleton. Skinning, dismembering, filleting and extraction of marrow were thus acknowledged.
