The grotte de la Coscia (Rogliano, Haute-Corse) : Preliminary study of a new Upper Pleistocene site in Corsica. The "Grotte de la Coscia" cave is located at the northern extremity of Cap Corse. During the Middle Pleistocene it was a very large cave excavated by high sea levels in carbonated marine sediments of the mesozoic formation of Macinaggio. The geologic history of the cave is very complex: a large part of its ceiling has collapsed (except for the north-western part, called "grotte nord-ouest") and the entire cavity is now filled with about 20 meters of marine and continental sediments (eolian sands, slope deposits, stalagmitic formations).
