Photographic work included in Seduced by Art, National Gallery, London 31st October - 20th January 2013, touring to CaixaForum Barcelona (21 February 2013 – 19 May 2013) and CaixaForum Madrid (18 June 2013 – 15 September 2013)

Seduced by Art was exhibited at the National Gallery London (31st October - 20th January 2013); CaixaForum Barcelona (21 February 2013 – 19 May 2013) and CaixaForum Madrid (18 June 2013 – 15 September 2013). There was a fully illustrated catalogue to the exhibition, there was also a Spanish edition. The exhibition explored early photography from the mid – 19th Century and selected contemporary photographs alongside historical painting. It examined how photographers use fine art traditions, including Old Master painting to explore and justify the possibilities of their art. There were 90 photographs displayed by a range of photographers including Martin Parr, Craigie Horsfield, Sam Taylow – Wood, Julia Margaret Cameron and Gustave Le grey. Paintings and early and contemporary photographs were presented together according to traditional genres such as Portraiture, Still Life, Nudes and Landscape, highlighting the universality of themes and influences across all works across time. There were three interventions of contemporary photographs displayed within the National Galleries collection. Billingham’s ‘Hedgerow’, 2003 was juxtaposed with Constables ‘Cornfield’ (1826). Cragie Horsfield and Richard Learoyd were juxtaposed with Degas and Ingres
