Experimental frost weathering of arenaceous sand of french « Massif Central » was performed to study frost action modalities. After 500 freeze-thaw cycles, a notable comminution was obtained with 3 types of grain size distributions. Susceptibility of different minerals has been tested : quartz is very susceptible, and so are polymineral grains. Other mineral species are imprévisible. One of the most important dépendance seems to be tectonic micro-fracturation.
