Serge Aberdam, The Vote on the Constitution and the Division of the Commons : Two Opportunities for Female Participation in 1793 An appraisal of all the parliamentary debates surrounding female suffrage in the spring and summer of 1793 provides an incentive to scrutinize the practical involvement of women in the two major opportunities they were given, i. e. the popular vote on the Constitution of 1793 and especially local implementation of the division of the common lands. The specialised literature on the latter subject has tended generally to neglect the position of women and their participation, legally enacted as from 10 June.
