Annie Duprat, A Royalist Looks at the Revolution : Jacques-Marie Boyer de Nîmes In the spring of 1792, a royalist journalist originating from Nîmes, Jacques-Marie Boyer-Brun, who was a virulent polemicist, launched a loose-leaf publication entitled A History of the Caricatures of the Revolt of the French. The 10th August put a sudden stop to this original educational initiative, whose aim was to present some of the patriotic caricatures that had met with the most success, explain their meaning and context, in order to vilify them and denounce all the sins of the Revolution.
