Leaves of Absence. 16 Days a Year for a Factory Worker, 3.5 Days a Year for an Executive - According to the survey, 'Structure des salaires' conducted in 1986, salaried workers in the private sector were absent from work for approximately 1 2 working days in a year, due of sickness, pregnancy, on-the-job injuries, or collective or personal reasons. Excluding maternity leave, women took only slightly more time off from work than men did. Whatever the motive, there were five times less absences from executives than from factory workers; however, the duration of the absence did not depend on a person's level in the hierarchy.
