Crypto- and Semi-Waldensians in Hussite Bohemia Bohemia became a promised land for persecuted Waldensians and other non-conformists from several European countries well before the Hussite revolution. In particular, it had provided shelter for teachers and students of the so-called Dresden School. From Bohemia, they set off as missionaries to Germany and elsewhere, often meeting their fate at the stake. Not all manifestations labelled « Waldensian » in Bohemia were direct heirs of this religious community. « Waldensianism » was a term frequently evoked in public addressed campaigns, often with negative connotations.
