Wage-earners in 1967, fifteen years later - From 1967 to 1982, a large number of wage-earners moved to another working sector of the economy, another region or, more significant, into another socioprofessional category. Most of the time, they went up in the social hierarchy. They were seldom demoted, though a loss in the level of qualification was not exceptional among older wage-earners. Mobility from one sector and from one region to another, was the higher among younger wage-earners. Salaries reflected the evolution of a career. Those who improved their qualifications also bettered their position compared to the "stable" employees who remained in the same social category.
