The systematic study of the heavy minerals in the geological formations of "La Caune de l'Arago" (Tautavel, Pyrénées-Orientales) as well as the one in the lithostratigraphic units allow tracing back the origins of the sediments and, for the most part, the processes of their deposition into the cave. A geochemical evolution, subsequent to the infilling of the cave, is indicated by the absence of the pyroxenes, the quasi-absence of the amphiboles and the fluctuation of the garnets as a function of the degree of the décarbonation.
