In the Amiens area, the Somme basin (Somme and Avre) present different terraces partially covered by loesses. Recent researches have shown that the Middle Terrace includes three different fluvial levels. The oldest (M T I ) belongs to an old phasis of Middle Pleistocene. The latest (M T III ) is probably prior to three glacial cycles.
